ANNUAL R.F. GOULEY EDUCATIONAL SAFETY PROGRAM IN THE CLASSROOM

RMLP LINEMAN AID MAINE IN POWER RESTORATION AFTER STORM

Rowley Municipal Lighting Plant’s Linemen responded to Maine’s call for help during the first week of April by traveling north to restore power to Mainers left in the dark after the heavy, wet early Spring snowstorm on April 4.

RMLPs Management and Light Commissioners would like to express our appreciation to Rowley’s linemen, along with those of Littleton, Hudson, Wakefield, Concord, Reading, Middleborough, and Wellesley, who also participated in this Mutual Aid effort.

RMLP ENERGY CHALLENGE MADE MORE CUSTOMERS AWARE OF THE NEED TO CONSERVE POWER IN 2023

(February 17, 2024) Last year, RMLP challenged ourselves and our community to reduce our electric consumption by making energy efficient changes to our home and business systems and habits. We asked the whole town of Rowley to join us in this challenge. Customers could even track our progress (below) and keep up with how the community was doing month by month. APPA COMMENDS RMLP FOR MUTUAL AID

(December 28, 2023) RMLP, your town's lighting plant works cooperatively with the American Public Power Association, providing mutual aid to communities who need our help after storms and other emergencies. And in return, Rowley receives help from other electric companies when it's needed most.

We recently received certificate recognition from APPA and the New Hampshire Electric Co-op for our mutual aid in the past year to help restore power in the Granite State. Thanks for being a RMLP customer!

They are available at Town Hall, the Rowley Public Library, Rowley Senior Center, and at Rowley Municipal Lighting Plant while supplies last.

(June 20, 2023) Rowley Municipal Lighting Plant hosted its annual Educational Safety and Conservation Program at the Rowley Senior Center on Tuesday, June 20. Each year, this event features safety, education, and conservation talks and demonstrations — and according to attendees, loads of fun.

RMLP RECEIVES APPA EXCELLENCE IN RELIABILITY AWARD

(April 26, 2023) APPA, the American Public Power Association recently awarded Rowley Municipal Lighting Plant its latest Excellence in Reliability Award. This national award recognizes that Rowley Municipal Lighting Plant has significantly exceeded the 5-year average for all U.S. electric utilities in the category of reliable electric service!

RMLP Observes National Lineman Appreciation Day

(April 18, 2023) April 18th is Lineman Appreciation Day! Our Management, Light Board, and Staff want to express our appreciation for the 24/7, in-all-weather service of RMLP's Electrical Linemen. We're proud of them all.

The 113th Congress passed a bill designating April 18th as National Lineman Appreciation Day in 2013 (after 2012's Hurricane Sandy). #thankalineman.

Rowley Municipal Lighting Plant Installs Level 2 EV Charging Station

The Rowley Municipal Lighting Plant recently completed the installation of the town’s first Public Level 2 EV Charging Station at the Rowley Town Library (behind Rowley Town Hall).

The installation was funded by a Massachusetts Electric Vehicle Incentive Program (MassEVIP) Public Access Charging (PAC) grant through the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP).

Rowley Municipal Lighting Plant would like to thank the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection along with the Board of Library Trustees, Library Director Pam Jacobson, Town Administrator Debbie Eagan and her staff, Rowley Highway Department, as well as the Rowley Selectman for their help in making this happen.

RMLP Receives Another Mutual Aid Commendation

APPA, the American Public Power Association’s Mutual Aid Committee awarded Rowley Municipal Lighting Plant with its latest Mutual Aid Commendation in September. This award is a national one, established in 2018 to recognize exemplary public power utilities that have aunswered the call for assistance and aided other communities in restoring power to their electric tility customers, as well as their own.

RMLP Observed National Drive Electric Week: Sept. 25th-Oct. 3rd

(October 4, 2021) RMLP threw a spotlight on Carbon Reduction and Massachusetts’ Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reduction during National Drive Electric Week from Sept. 25th-Oct. 3rd.

National Drive Electric Week is an annual countrywide celebration to raise awareness of the many benefits of All-Electric and Plug-in Hybrid Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles, and more. Customers could go to Drive Electric Events nearby—an opportunity to participate in an in-person or online event to learn from happy EV owners.

Fun & Learning at Rowley Senior Center Annual Event

(June 22nd, 2021) Rowley Municipal Lighting Plant hosted its annual Educational Safety and Conservation Program at the Rowley Senior Center—this year under their new tent and tables! Everyone enjoyed the day, and even learned a few new things.

RMLP Encouraged Giving to the MA Good Neighbor Energy Fund during COVID-19 Winter

(June 14, 2021) Rowley Municipal Light Plant was a sponsor of the Massachusetts Good Neighbor Energy Fund during the Covid-19 emergency and Winter of 2020/2021. We appealed to local residential and business customers on our website, on social media and via mail inserts to help by making donations to the Fund’s 2021 “Give the Gift of Warmth” campaign. The increase in applications for economic assistance brought on by the impact of the pandemic made this appeal necessary.

Rowley Municipal Lighting Plant Joins in Historic Purchase of Clean, Green Massachusetts-made Hydropower

(November 13, 2020) RMLP has joined 20 public power utilities from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Vermont in the largest municipal electric department purchase of "green power" in New England history, a contract for hydropower generated in Western Massachusetts that will lower RMLP's customers' bills and greenhouse-gas emissions. Public Power Week 2020

(October 4-10, 2020) Every year, Public Power Week celebrates the many benefits of Public Power to local cities and towns like Rowley. This year, a video was produced that explains Public Power History, as well as its many many advantages and benefits. Check it out.

Rowley Municipal Lighting Plant Septic & Water Replacement Dig

(September 21, 2020) Starting on September 21st, RMLP had a contractor replacing our septic system & water service at our offices. The project was scheduled 9/21- 9/26. Our building remained open by appointment only, and website and phone customer contact was unaffected.

RMLP Receives a Mutual Aid Commendation
